Canon 500D, the latest dSLR 15.1 megapixel camera

Canon has announced the product launch of the Canon EOS 500d the successor to the incredibly popular Canon 450D. The camera has an incredible 15.1 megapixel resolution and can shoot full high definition (HD) video at 1080 pixels.

Shoot Pin Sharp Images

The 15.1 megapixel resolution combined with the latest DIGIC 4 image processor enables you to shoot pin sharp images which are ideal for large pictures or cropping to smaller areas. The 15.1 megapixel sensor is outstanding in low light conditions and procudes images with very low noise with an ISO range up to 3200 and expandable to 12800 for when flash is undesirable.

Use the 3.4fps burst mode for up to 170 images in JPEG mode or 9 images when shooting in RAW.

Full HD Video at an affordable price

The Canon 500d can shoot full high definition video at an incredible 1080p for playback on your HDTV. Connection is via an HDMI cable and for longer videos you can choose to shoot in 720p or VGA mode. Watch the video back on the 3" lcd screen which features an ultra-high 920,000 dots for excellent clarity.

Fully Compatible with EF/EF-S and EX Speedlite accessories

The Canon EOS 500d is fully compatible with all your existig EOS accessories including the EF and EF-S lenses so there's no need to purchase new lenses and the EX Speedlite range.

Canon 500d Expected Price

The Canon EOS 500d will be avaialble for sale from May 2009 and the expected street price is around the £850 mark.
